Honeysuckle Hill Farm

On Good Friday, Joni and I took the girls to Honeysuckle Hill farm north of Nashville. They have lots of activities for kids. There is a lot of playground type equipment, a big "corn popper" that is some kind of big bouncy thing, tractors to race, animals to see, a "train" to ride, water to pump and race little ducks with, a hay maze to navigate, and a nice place to sit and eat a picnic lunch. They have different activities throughout the year. They were having an Easter egg hunt when we were there. The girls were so excited they kept dashing from one thing to another. The bouncy thing was Reesi's favorite. Poor little Elye missed her regular nap due to our adventure. She did eventually give it up and take a little cat nap in the stroller at one point. It was fun and it wore the girls out. We knew it was time to go when they started getting cranky! We'll definitely have to make that little trip again!

This is so typical...

I'm having trouble with the blogger server. It won't upload my pictures for some reason. I've tried for 3 days now to make a new post but it won't upload the pictures. Anyway, I found this post that was in draft form that never was actually posted. This is from Lyla's preschool spring program right before Easter. Lyla did not want me to show these pictures at the time and that's why I didn't post them. But they're such a representation of life with Grace and Lyla that I decided she'll just have to forgive me one day when she sees these in the photo album.

So, this was after the program was over. Each student was given a little lollipop on a long flexible stick. It probably weighed about half of an ounce. Lyla was playing with her sucker. I was trying to get a nice after-program picture of the the girls together, but, she wasn't cooperating. She kept putting her sucker behind Grace's head, like bunny ears. Grace was trying to comply with my request but was getting annoyed at Lyla. She tried to move Lyla's hand from behind her head and somehow, the long, flimsy stick with a sucker on the end hit Lyla on the head with the sucker. Of course, by the cry you see in the picture you would think Lyla had been hit with a brick. Lyla is a tough kid. She doesn't cry when she gets hurt by something she has done to herself, like, falling off her bike. But she cries a lot when her feelings get hurt or she gets in trouble or someone makes her made. That's what these tears are really saying. She's mad at Grace.

This kind of situation happens every day with us. Do other moms deal with this every day too or is it just my kids???

Our Last Spring Program

We had our spring program at preschool last Thursday. Lyla will graduate from preschool in May so this was her last preschool program. They did a great job. They sang some very cute songs! Lyla won't ever tell me what songs their going to sing in their programs because she says it's supposed to be a surprise. Here are a few pictures. We had to get a picture with her best friend, Fordie, of course!

Here are pictures from a recent Sunday afternoon when Eric took the girls to the river near our house. They love any excuse to get muddy and/or wet!

Predators Game with Grandma and Papaw

Eric's parents came to visit a couple of weekends ago. Eric got 4 tickets to the Predators game. So he took his parents and Lyla. He had 2 tickets for another game the next week so Grace was fine with missing it. They enjoyed the game and Lyla took the pictures of the game.

The next Thursday Eric took Grace to the Predators game. He said she wanted to get herself on the jumbotron so Eric showed her where the camera man was. She made a sign and jumped around until she finally got his attention. He pointed to her and motioned that she would be next. Sure enough, at the next break he pointed his camera at Grace! She had her pretty little face on that big screen in front of the fans! She was very excited!

Easter Egg Hunt

Last Saturday was the annual Harpeth Hills Easter Egg Hunt at the Ezells house. This is our last year for the egg hunt. It's for the preschool kids of the church. So, Lyla was our ticket in this year. Next Easter Lyla won't be a preschooler so we won't be "invited". The girls will definitely miss it. Their home is amazing. They have a huge play area with a little girls play house, a 2 story play house, swings, a pirate ship with sandbox, a trampoline and a beautifully landscaped yard. After the egg hunt lunch is provided which is always yummy. We had really good weather too. It was a very nice morning.

Eggs

We met at Joni's house for Easter egg dying. Last year I only gave the girls 1 dozen eggs to decorate and they were done in no time flat and wanted to do more. So this year they got 2 1/2 dozen eggs! It seems like a lot but it was just right. They worked very hard to make them beautiful. They tried different ways to dunk them and hold them and give them more than one color. After they were all done they ran upstairs to start playing with their eggs. They were sorting and pretending big stories with their eggs. Then it happened. Grace came down the stairs and lost control of her basket. Her eggs went rolling down half of the staircase. Even though the stairs are carpeted, they were pretty much crunched completely. She cried so hard. I told her I would buy more eggs and we could do more. She didn't want to though. She cried for quite a while but when she was done she never said anything else about them. I was surprised. They didn't really play with them anymore though.
