Halloween

This year we went trick-or-treating with Joni and her girls. All of the big girls were dressed like Indians and Elye was a cowgirl. They had a great time running from door to door. Elye was adorable saying thank you to every person that gave her candy. She really stayed with the big girls and did just what they did! She was pretty cute. The funniest part of the evening happened right at the start. We went to a house that was actually decorated on the outside. They had music playing and spooky lights and decorations. The girls went to the door and we hung back a little. The girls came walking back to us and right about the time they got to us a person dressed in a big hairy "big foot" monster costume walked very slowly out from behind a tree that we had been standing right next too and said boo. I screamed louder than anyone and the girls took off running as fast as they could! It was hilarious! The girls got about 3 houses away before they stopped running. I think everyone was really laughing at me yelling so loud though. I've always been a sucker for scary halloween stuff. I've never liked haunted houses or scary movies. I laughed at myself too though. It was pretty funny!

A day at the park with our crazy girls

Grace's Halloween Party

This was Grace's Halloween party at school. They played games and had treats. In their classroom they have self-portraits on the wall. This is Grace's self portrait. I just love kid art. It's so precious to me. I have stacks and stacks of pictures the girls have drawn over the years. I have a plan in the back of my head of how I'm going to organize it all one day. Hopefully I'll get to that project before they're done drawing pictures for me. This is Grace's best little buddy.

Lyla's Halloween Party

These are pictures from Lyla's class Halloween party. They are backwards. I followed her out to recess after the party but those are the pictures you're seeing first. Anyway, they played bingo, made a little bracelet and had the typical class party food. The kids are always so excited. I wish I could get so excited about something so simple and routine. Look how cute she is in these pictures!

Trunk or Treat

This year Grace, Lyla and Reesi were all Indians for Halloween. We attended Trunk or Treat at our church like we do every year. Grace and Lyla were both going to take a friend but Grace's friend got sick and couldn't come. Lyla's friend, Grace, did come. Grace (our Grace) hung out with Reesi and the friend that she brought. It was packed and crazy crowded just like it is every year. That kind of crowd and chaos makes me uncomfortable. The kids had fun though. The first picture below is of the girls at one of the "trunks". It was a pirate theme. I think this picture is really funny because of all of the crazy faces everyone is making. No one is really smiling for the picture. The other pictures show a few of the trunks. There was a train that rode kids around the baseball field next to the church and a little putt-putt golf trunk. The big one was a Hollywood scene. They had a red carpet, lights, an announcer and a real limo. The kids would walk the red carpet as they were announced and then they would climb through the limo at the end of the carpet.

Jim and Peggy's 40th Anniversary

Everyone met at Olive Garden to celebrate Jim and Peggy's 40th wedding anniversary. The service was pretty bad but that just gave everyone extra time to visit. Jim gave Peggy a ring and Peggy gave Jim a new grill. Eric made a Blurb photo book of various pictures from the last 40 years. Everyone seemed to enjoy looking through the book. I always think pictures make a great gift. It was a nice night.
