Playing in Missouri

The girls had a blast in Missouri! Reesi actually cried one night because the next day would be our last full day there. Some of the fun things they did included swimming, running through the barns, chasing kittens, blowing bubbles, holding dogs, playing in the mud, running into electric fences (well, that part wasn't too fun), riding Grandma's golf cart everywhere (Reesi was the only one to fall off thanks to Julie taking a corner a little too fast), riding a horse, and playing with a bunch of cousins! One of the days we went to Dina's house (my cousin) to learn how to make homemade yeast rolls. I'll post that later. But while we were there the girls found a BIG mud hill and decided to play in it (without asking first, of course). There are pictures below of that mess. They sure did have fun though.

A very special dress

This is my grandma's dress from when she was a little girl. Her mom crocheted it herself for my grandma! Now our kids are wearing it (just for a picture)! It's so pretty. I wish I could make things like this to hand down for generations! (Lyla didn't have any interest in putting the dress on for pictures. Maybe next year.)

Grandpa's Barn

Ah, Grandpa's barn...I have very fond memories in this barn. As a kid, we would play in the barn with our cousins every year when we visited Grandma and Grandpa. I remember one time in particular that we found the remains of a dead cat in the bottom of the silo! This barn is FULL of stuff and Grandpa knows where everything is. I love to walk through it and look at all of the little details. There was a homemade pen holder...Grandpa is great at making things for very specific needs. There were deer legs hanging from the rafters. Grandpa blamed Kendall (my mom's brother) for them hanging there but Kendall said Grandpa did it. They both agreed they had been hanging there for more years then they could remember. It's neat that I can remember playing in that barn and now the next generation of kids is running through the same barn pointing at the same deer legs hanging from the rafters!

Baby Elye Kate in Missouri

Baby Elye Kate did a wonderful job on our big trip to Missouri! She didn't even cry during the 9+ hour drives there and back. She slept in her sling while Joni walked around and she let everyone hold her. She's such a sweet baby.

A very cool rocking chair

This rocking chair was sitting out in Grandma's yard. Joni and I loved it. We wanted to tie it to the top of the van and bring it home but that didn't happen. It is the perfect combination of weathered and peeling paint. A great photo prop! We took several pictures in the chair. Here are a few.

The Galloway Horses

Here are the horses of the Galloway farm. They are very pretty and the girls loved to watch them. They finally got a chance to sit/ride one of the on the last night that we were there. Lyla wanted to actually ride it around but they mainly just sat on it for a while. Thank you to Kris and Kendall for letting us ride the horses. They were great.
