We (me, Lyla and Reesi) took Grace for her 6 year old check-up on Tuesday. Grace was worrying about whether or not she would get a shot. It wasn't nearly as bad as last year though. You can read about Grace's shots from last year under January 2008, "Shots are not fun". Anyway, she started crying as soon the nurse came in. They checked weight, height and eyes first. Then she did the finger prick. It wasn't too bad thanks to the freezing spray. It did bleed a lot though. After the nurse left, the blood started running down her thumb out from under the bandaid. I had to clean that up and then the doctor came in and put a pressure bandaid on it. We talked about her growth and behaviors. She is 48 pounds and is 47 3/4 inches tall. Her weight is in the 68th percentile and her height is in the 89st percentile. Everything else that they checked looked good. Then came the shots. She only needed 1 shot but she cried more than when she was a baby even though they used the freezing spray again. The most difficult part of the visit was handling spunky little Lyla Belle while all of this was going on. She wanted to do everything Grace did...get undressed, pee in a cup, check her ears, eyes, climb on the table over and over and over again all while the doctor is trying to talk to me and sweet Reesi is trying to talk to the doctor about her new horse....you get the picture. She's definitely a handful! My saving grace was that they had us in and out of there in about 45 minutes from arrival to departure. After we left Grace was very pitiful. She said her thumb was sore and her leg hurt too. She wanted a treat. I had to go to Wal-Mart anyway so we found some $2.50 Valentine's Day stuffed animals. They both picked one out and everyone was happy.

The Dreaded Check-up

I took the two little girls to Grace's Valentine party at school last week. There 4 different activities as well as a cupcake snack. They all had fun and I'm just glad Lyla and Reesi are allowed to participate as well.
They are racing to see who can unwrapp a hersey's kiss and eat it first while wearing mittens.

A Sweet Valentine
In school Grace has been writing letters to people. She brought this one home last week before Valentine's Day. It was in an envelope addressed to Lyla. It was so sweet. It says, "Lyla is my sister. She is nice. I love her. from Grace"
A date with Mommy
While Eric took Grace on a date, I took Lyla on a date. She decided our date needed to be at Chuck E. Cheese. On a Friday night! I tried to bribe her with ToysRUs and a restaurant but she wouldn't go for it. So, off we went to Chuck E. Cheese during the busiest time of the week. I circled the building 4 times before finding a parking spot. It took us 30 minutes to get in the door and order a pizza at the counter! Then we had to wait in a line for every game! It was not my idea of fun but Lyla loved it. She didn't care about the massive crowd at all so I tried to chill out and enjoy our time together. We shared a pizza and she ate the same amount of pizza as me! She played games and had a good time. It was nice to spend some one on one time with my little Lyla.
A date with Daddy
Two weeks ago Eric took Grace on a Father/Daughter date. He found out about a Father/Daughter dance that was going to be a the Rec. Center down in Spring Hill. He asked Grace if she wanted to go. She was most excited about the chance to wear her "wedding" dress. The little girls were given a single carnation, the couples were introduced and their pictures were taken. The pictures were really bad though so we didn't get one. I took the pictures below before they left. They didn't go with anyone they knew so I think Eric was a little bored but Grace had fun. She ended up running around with the other little girls I think. It was a sweet thought and I'm glad Eric is building this relationship with his little girl. Little girls need their daddies!
