Character Award

Every month at Hunter's Bend, they award a character award to a student from each class of each grade. The January character award was for being a caring person. Grace recieved this award in her class. It is true too. She is extremely caring toward other people. She is very concerned about the feelings of others and usually wants to help the underdog. She tells me about how she talks to the child in her class that is alone and how she tries to make things right when someone gets her feelings hurt. The award was torn by a certain baby cousin, who shall remain nameless.

Adventure Science Center

I was a chaperon for Grace's class field trip to the Adventure Science Center on Friday. That is a crazy place to take a field trip to! They assign a few kids to each chaperon to keep up with. The science center is crazy full of kids though and it has a climbing thing in the middle that is several stories tall. So in order to keep up with them the chaperon has to do everything they do! It's wild. I was only assigned 3 students though. It was manageable but I don't think I could have taken on more. These are the only 3 pictures I got from the whole trip. They were just moving too fast to take any pictures. This slide is supposed to teach them about your intestines and bowels. At the end of the slide you hear a big pooter sound when you come out! They think that's hilarious, of course.

Cheerleading Celebration Night

Grace's cheerleading is over. It was a short 2 months. She really enjoyed it though. They had a celebration night to end the season. The cheerleaders did a cheer and then they had a magician for entertainment.

He's still so tiny

Here is Easton compared to Lyla baby doll. He's almost 4 weeks old in this picture and he's barely bigger than this 15" baby doll. So cute!

It's a good thing they're cute

Bathtime has never been my favorite time with my girls. I know it should be a fun time of play with your child but it just doesn't feel like that to me. I actually gave the task of bathing the girls to Eric years ago. I clean up dinner while he bathes them. They're just too wild. They want to play, not wash. It's hard to get them cleaned up and out of there without frustration. Now that they're bigger, I can leave them to play in the bathtub by themselves and then just come in to rinse their hair and make them get out. But, the downside is there is no supervision to control their craziness! When I'm downstairs and the noise coming from the upstairs bathroom sounds like a waterpark, it means trouble! It literally sounds like they are at a waterpark! Squeals of delight, water splashing, and a noise that sounds like their barrelling down a waterslide. Then when I go in to get things under control, I find that the entire bathroom is wet! I'm not exaggerating either. The floor, the walls, and the shower curtain are all soaking wet. I mainly let this happen because I'd rather make them dry everything off themselves then sit in there with them and try to control it. This is not the best parenting technique, I realize this. So last week after listening to them in the bathroom for a while I thought I'd sneak in and snap some pictures of what they were doing. They immediately stopped what they were doing so I didn't really get any pictures of their craziness. I got one of Grace through the fog but that was it. Lyla posed more for me. Here they are...two crazy girls that love to make a mess!

Do we have an artist?

Here is Lyla painting a masterpiece one day while it was just me and her at home. She worked very hard on it.

Another one gone

Grace lost her 2nd top tooth on the Friday before Valentine's Day. Yes, Joni, it's taken me a while to get this posted. Anyway, Grace would not let us pull this tooth, just like the last one, which she swallowed. I thought that swallowing the last one would have convinced her to not let it get sooooo loose. But, nope, just as last time, she let it get to the dangling stage. That Friday morning she couldn't eat breakfast because it was so loose. Then when she came home from school it was hanging so far down that I could see the entire top rim of the tooth. It was just connected by a little piece of tissue in the middle. So, it was literally dangling by a thread. She said it kept bleeding at school and she couldn't eat. She was starving but couldn't eat at home either. She was crying and wouldn't let me pull it. I called Eric and said that we're going to have to hold her down and get it out when he got home. So, Grace cried until Eric got home at 6pm. It took both of us basically laying on top of her while she was screaming bloody murder. Eric said he barely touched it and it came out. After it was all over and she had calmed down she said thank you and that she was glad we pulled it. Then we went to dinner for a family Valentine's Day night out and she ate really good!
