Owl's Hill

I went to Owl's Hill with Grace's 1st grade class on Thursday. It's basically a nature preserve, I guess. I'm not sure what you can do there besides have field trips. The kids went inside a little house and listened to a lady tell a story about a native american girl while showing authentic native american artifacts. As they walked out they got to touch a fox skin. Then they were given "power shields". Each power shield had one of 3 symbols on it. This put the kids in three groups. Then they rolled wildflower seeds in a ball of clay because that is how the native americans perserved the seeds during the winter. Then we went on a hike and looked for symbols left by native americans. At the end of the hike, they had a story telling time like the native americans did. It was a beautiful day. I'm glad we had nice weather.
