Every year our neighborhood has a neighborhood wide yard sale in the fall and the spring. I've done it once before but I usually don't do it just because it's a lot of work to prepare for. Well, this year Joni said she was doing it, so Julie said she would too, and my mom said she'd come too. So, of course, I had to do it. I'm glad I did though! I made a good little chunk of money (even though it went toward groceries, gas, and other boring stuff). Joni said the girls could have their own candy store and sell candy and drinks. They went shopping with Joni and Mimi to buy their supplies. They each picked a type of candy and then they also had water bottles, juice boxes, Fanta and coke in real glass coke bottles. The coke bottles were a big hit. They sold every one of them. Joni also helped them make signs for their business. They were very excited! We set up their table that morning and hung their signs. They sat at their station for a while but the newness wore off fairly quickly. Papoo ended up running the business for a little while! The girls kept wanting to drink their drinks. At one point Papoo told them they were drinking their profits! Lyla quickly responded, "well, it's my business"! Grace was very possessive of the money as it came in. Some one gave them a $5 dollar bill and Grace did not want to give it up. In the end, I don't think their little business actually made a profit. They each got some money from the overall yard sale profits though, which made them happy. At one point, a guy from our subdivision magazine came by and took our picture. It actually made it into the magazine too! You can see that below. The picture of the girls in the magazine is a little dark though. Overall, it was a successful day. I keep finding things now that I think, why didn't I throw that out there for the yard sale. I think I'll definitely try to do it again in the spring.
