Putt Putt Golf

Eric took the girls to play putt putt golf on Labor Day while I went grocery shopping. He said Lyla would carry her ball and sit it right beside the hole and then putt it in. She did that at every hole instead of hitting it from the beginning of each course. They had fun. They even went through McDonalds drive thru for chocolate dipped cones on the way home. Eric said he'd never do that again. I said I couldn't have told him not to do that. They are very messy with chocolate dipped cones and don't end up eating all of the ice cream but they want the cone. You have to either scrape the ice cream off of the top or eat it for them, which is my preference, of course. But when you're driving and they're buckled in carseats behind you this can be difficult to say the least!

The Labor Day Fish and Frog Leg Fry

Every year Eric's parents have a fish fry and frog leg fry. They invite family, friends, and whoever else wants to come. I didn't really take very many pictures at the picnic. These are just a couple of Lyla and their cousin, Brianna.

Do a flip, Grace!

When we are at Eric's parents' house in the summer this is where Grace is the entire time! She LOVES the pool. Eric had her doing flips in the air. He would throw her up and she would do a flip in the air before hitting the water!

A Wade Wedding

Over the Labor Day weekend we also attended my cousin's wedding. It was a small, outdoor wedding. It was really pretty. Luckily, the location was well shaded so it wasn't too unbearably hot. Grace was determined she was going to catch something at the reception. She actually got up there with the single guys for the garter toss and caught it! They took it from her and threw it again. But then she caught the flowers that the bride tossed! The girls also had fun runny all around being silly. The last two pictures are of them doing the chicken dance.

Playing Dress-up

This past weekend we went home for Labor Day. Here are a few pictures from Eric's house. The girls were in their bathing suits when they decided to play dress-up with Laura and Angela's high heel shoes. How funny!

Grace's First Soccer Practice

Last week Grace had her first soccer practice. She's so excited about this new activity. She's never played before but she's very excited to learn. So the first practice was very exciting. She did everything the coach told her to do. They did drills and exercises and "played" against each other. It was very cute. They actually looked like little soccer players. Most of the girls on her team go to her school and live in our neighborhood. The practices are within walking distance from our house too. Living in a large neighborhood has its benefits!

Anyway, the practice went very well. The funny part was the next morning. Before school she kept rubbing her belly and telling me her belly hurt. I asked if she needed to go potty. I asked if it itched, did she need lotion. She said no to both questions. She said it wasn't a tummy ache but it wasn't on the skin on the outside either. I couldn't figure out what it was. I put lotion and hydracortizone on her belly! I told Eric about it later that day and he immediately said, "She's sore from soccer practice." Ohhhhhh! Of course! Why didn't I think of that? How funny! She was sore from exercising!

Lyla is very into the soccer stuff too. We had to buy her little cleats to wear just like Grace's. Luckily, they're not very expensive. Lyla took her ball to Grace's practice too. She ran that ball all around by herself. She's definitely going to be a sporty little girl! Go Lyla!

It's Official!

It's official! The real kindergarten has finally begun and Grace is now a "real" kindergartener! She got on the bus for the first time this morning. We are lucky to live right next door to two little girls that also ride the bus. They were very sweet and asked Grace if she wanted to sit with them. They also have a very nice bus driver named Mr. Tom. She rides the "orange" bus. She gets on at 8:10am and school starts at 8:30am. So, she's only on the bus for about 10 minutes. I think she is almost the last stop before the bus gets to school and one of the first to get off after school. School is over at 3:30pm and she gets off the bus on our street at 3:49pm! So, she doesn't have to be on there very long at all. Just enough to give her the experience and me the peace of mind that she'll be OK. She will actually get home quicker by the bus then if I sat in the car rider pick-up line to get her after school. Plus, it's nice that I don't have to get Reesi and Lyla in the van to take Grace to school.
