My parents have two apple trees on their farm. They actually produce really good apples, and a TON of them. Mom brought two big bags of apples to Franklin last weekend so I was inspired to do some homemade baking. My mom makes the best apple pies and she showed me how to do it a couple of years ago. I haven't tried it since them but I got the recipe out and gave it a shot. I think I had to call Mom maybe 3 times in the process. They turned out pretty good. I don't think they're as good as Mom's pies though. I even made the crust! Are you impressed? I'm always a little impressed with myself when I do something like that. Did you know pie crust is mainly Crisco??? You just can't think about that when you're eating it. I also made a crock pot full of apple butter with the apples. It turned out pretty good. I have a huge plastic container of apple butter in my fridge now. There is no way that it will all be eaten. Grace and Lyla don't want to have anything to do with it. So, if you are reading this and live nearby, come and get some apple butter.
