The girls love to jump, flip and roll on the furniture. Yes, I know this is dangerous but luckily, Grace and Lyla are pretty coordinated. I guess Lyla's luck ran out though. As I was walking out the door to go to a preschool teacher dinner, we heard a big thud and then a very bad cry. Lyla and Grace were doing the Nestea plunge on the couch. When Lyla did it she didn't fall straight backward. She went to the side a little and fell off and hit the coffee table. She cut her chin and scraped her neck. We couldn't really tell how bad the cut was. Eric could seemingly squeeze it together and then it would open back up when he let go. The pediatrician on call said it didn't sound bad but thought it was a good idea to have it checked or at least cleaned out, especially since it was on her face. We decided to go to Williamson Medical Center hospital instead of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital because we new Vandy would be a very long ordeal. It turned out that Williamson Medical was great. The cut was that bad but they did clean it and glue it shut.
Poor Lyla was just pitiful though. She's pretty tough. She doesn't cry too much when she hurts herself. This time she really cried and then when she stopped crying she wouldn't move. She was afraid to move and wouldn't look at the boo-boo. She held ice on it the whole time. Once we got to the hospital and changed her into her pajamas (Lyla's favorite clothing) I couldn't help but laugh at her. She was just so pitiful. Once they put numbing gel on it she perked up. She let them clean it and literally dig it out with a tooth pick and she never flinched. The doctor said most kids weren't that cooperative. He also said girls always do better than boys, whether they're 2 or 82. I thought that was funny.
So, she had her chin glued shut for a couple of weeks. Once the glue finally came off it didn't look that great to us. I kind of think it was more of a gash instead of a cut that could be brought back together to heal. Oh well, scars are cool, right?
