Christmas Trees

Well, our Christmas decorations are up. We don't have many, but what we have is in place. We mainly decorate our family and that is about it. The girls were very excited to put everything up and I really was looking forward to them being very involved this year. It took a little longer than they could handle to get the tree up and the lights on though. By the time we were ready for them to put the ornaments on they were wound up, running circles through the house (literally) and completely uncooperative.
Once we were done though, Grace had decided that she wanted to have a "Christmas night" and sleep in sleeping bags in the floor of the family room next to the Christmas tree. I didn't really like the idea because we didn't have to get up early the next day and I was sure they would wake with the sun if they were together, on the floor, in a sun-filled room! We compromised and said they could fall asleep there and then we'd carry them to their beds. They agreed but when we tried to pick Grace up she woke enough to protest. So, Lyla was taken to her bed and Grace stayed on the floor of the family room. I was expecting her to come upstairs at some point in the night. She stayed there all night though. In fact, they both slept late! I hadn't heard either of them at 9am so I finally went downstairs to check on her. She was wide awake and smiling at me. She said she'd been awake for a long time. I asked her what she'd been doing. She said, "Well, I read some books and then spent some time looking at the Christmas tree." Those were her words, "spent some time". It thought it was so funny how she said it.
Well, the next night they wanted to do it again but they wanted me to sleep there with them. Grace talked me into it and made me promise I wouldn't go to my bed in the middle of the night. I agreed, thinking I could just sleep on the couch. It didn't quite work out that way. I think I'm too old to sleep on the floor anymore. It was the worst night of not sleeping I've had in a long time. I couldn't sleep and tried moving to the couch but Grace woke up and started crying because she thought I'd left b/c I wasn't on the floor. So she wanted to sleep on the couch with me. That didn't work, so I went back to the floor. Then Lyla woke up and started crying because I wasn't in the middle of them so I had to move again. Anyway, it was a long night and I'll never sleep on the floor again unless absolutely necessary.
Here are a few pictures. They're not very good. I hope to get better pics soon.

While we were at Wal-Mart that week we came across these little pink Christmas trees that the girls had to have. I didn't protest too much because they are the cutest little trees. They're 4 foot tall and pink. They had blue, purple, white and red trees too. I thought Lyla would want a blue tree but she decided on a pink one too. My idea was to have them in their bedrooms. Grace put hers in her room but Lyla still won't put hers in her room. She insisted on it being right beside our big tree downstairs! I got pink ornaments for Grace and blue ornaments for Lyla. Grace also has a few princess ornaments on hers and Lyla has a few Cars ornaments on her tree. They pretty cute. I don't have very good pictures of these either. Lyla wouldn't let me take any of her. I'll get some before we take them down!
