Last weekend we took the girls to several shows. I have always loved "the theater" so I wanted to share that with my children. They still may be a little young to fully appreciate it but I'm still trying!
So last weekend we started on Friday night with A Christmas Carol. We drove all the way to Murfreesboro. We were in the front row! They spoke in heavy English accents though and used old English wording as well. I had to really listen to follow their dialog so the girls really had trouble. Both of them were very interested and paid attention well but they had to ask us questions the ENTIRE time to know what was going on. Plus, the ghosts scared Grace. The first ghost was a little disturbing but the others weren't really bad. They both said they liked it when it was over but I felt bad for talking the whole way through the play, especially since we were on the front row.
On Saturday Eric was at the Habitat House so I took the girls to see Bolt at the movie theater. It was a 3D movie. I had never seen a 3D movie before. It was kind of neat. They gave us glasses to wear but not the blue and red lenses like I've seen before. They were big though. Grace wore her glasses the whole time but Lyla didn't. Lyla kept taking hers off and complaining that she couldn't see. Then she kept asking to move to the top row in the theater. Then she kept saying she didn't like the movie and she wanted to leave. The end of that movie couldn't have come soon enough.
Then on Sunday afternoon Eric was at the Habitat House again so I took the girls to a local school to see Peter Pan performed by a local theater group. It was really cute. The girls really liked it and could somewhat follow the story. They did keep asking questions but not too bad. It was a sold out show though so we ended up in the back which made it hard to see. It was a long show too. The girls really liked it though. The Nashville Children's Theater is performing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory right now. Maybe I'll try it again soon with the Chocolate Factory.
